ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sally Chambers lives in Melbourne on Florida’s Space Coast. She and her husband moved to Melbourne where he worked at the Space Center for many years. When they first came to Melbourne, only unmanned spacecraft were being launched from Cape Canaveral. Now, they watch both the unmanned craft and the always-spectacular shuttle launches, from their back yard.

After a career as an insurance agent for the Nationwide Insurance Companies, Sally retired and began writing in earnest. Sally has written and published devotionals (The Upper Room), newspaper articles (Florida Today newspaper), and developed Sunday school material for children (for her class and for Standard Publishing’s Kidz Chat). For her church, she has written drama and has edited two devotional books. Active with Christian Writers Fellowship International online, she has participated as a moderator since 2005.

In the last few years she has won awards for her short stories (If The Shoe Fits for Melody of the Heart E-Zine) and poetry (Sand Dancing for the Marcia Colvin Memorial Poetry Contest). Another interest she has is writing and recording stories on audiotape for an Australian radio station.

Volunteering and mentoring in public schools has been a long-time passion and was instrumental in sparking her desire to write. She has completed one adult fiction novel, not yet in print, and has two other novels in process.

Sally is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Melbourne, and teaches Sunday school. The Salvation Army holds a warm place in her heart for all the good they do for others. To give back a little, she has served on the Salvation Army Advisory Board in Melbourne for many years.

To keep fresh and up-to-date with her writing, Sally attends a weekly Christian writers group. Held at The Tabernacle Community in Melbourne, Florida, the group’s origination was inspired by the late pastor/writer, Jamie Buckingham and is led by editor/writer, Laura Brooks. Sally keeps a journal she calls Cat Scratches and has always loved to write.

Sally and Jerry have two children and two grandchildren. She enjoys researching for her novels, reading, puzzles, crocheting, beading, and trail walking.
